On Sept. 30, 1962, a student demonstration protesting the admission of the first African American student, James Meredith, to the University of Mississippi turned violent. Ed Meek, a 22-year-old graduate and staff photographer for the University Information Office, had access to all the turbulent events that followed. He was the only photographer to walk away with a full body of work covering Meredith’s admission and the ensuing 1962 riot at Ole Miss. This book is a hardcover photo-history of that important event, with an introduction by historian Curtis Wilkie and afterword by Gov. William Winter.
